Many of our patients are planning on taking holiday trips in the next few weeks. We thought it would be a good idea to give some travel tips if you wear braces or other orthodontic appliances:
Pack Your Wax
We all know there are things that may happen that will be out of your control. Sometimes things may shift or come loose while you’re away from home. If this is the case, make sure you have your orthodontic wax to cover any rough or irritating areas to keep you comfy during your trip.
Pack Your Brushes
Bringing your orthodontic brushes and other oral hygiene aids with you on your trip to help you prevent heavy buildup around your braces. Using your interproximal brush can come in handy for the moments you need a quick clean up, and it will fit in your pocket or your purse.
Buy Travel Size
Buying travel sized oral hygiene products will make it a lot easier for you to pack what you’ll need for your trip. A travel toothbrush and toothpaste can be carried most anywhere regardless of how far you’re traveling.
Be Careful About What You Eat
We want you to enjoy your holiday meals and treats, but we also want your braces to be kept intact. When heading out for breakfast or dinner, be careful not to bite down too hard on hard or sticky foods. Take smaller bites and chew carefully. This can help prevent broken brackets while you’re away from home.
